Perhaps I will do a rewrite sometime. “Samuel Johnson: Limiting Creative Freedom” – A look at the consequences of Johnson’s critical theories, originally written for Critical Methods in the Study of Literature. “Multiculturalism or Isolationism?” – My response to a 1998 attempt by the San Francisco Unified School Board to rework their required reading list, originally written for Critical Methods in the Study of Literature. “Terry Eagleton: Creating a Wholly Biased World” – A look at the consequences of Eagleton’s Marxist theories, originally written for Critical Methods in the Study of Literature. “Catch-22: An Attack on American Capitalism” – Exploring the character of Milo Minderbender, originally written for Seminar in Ideas. “Failed Individuation in Poe’s ‘MS. Found in a Bottle’” – Explores Jungian themes in a Poe short story, originally written for American Short Stories. “The Color Freud” – Two parts of a three part paper exploring the relationship between color symbolism and Freud’s Id, Ego, Superego model, originally written for Poetry. |
