12/8/02 Looks like I’ve finally come up with an original design I like. I’ll start moving content over, adding new content, etc. now. Making this website has been the delay on the “Growing Up in a Catholic Town” entry. Now that this is up and running, you can expect that to be here sometime tomorrow. After that, I plan on posting three journal entries a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) and one slightly polished piece of writing a week (first draft finished by Sunday to be posted with revised piece on Wednesday). I will also include any other writing that doesn’t make a complete piece on its own which I deem worthy (descriptive narrative, dialogue, etc.)
This week and next may be slow in getting started due to many things: · I’ll be moving back and forth between Maryland (where the files are) and New Jersey (where the family is). · I have three essays to write for a take-home exam due Wednesday. · I will be working on constructing and polishing this site and moving content from DeadJournal here. · I have to teach a professor how to build and publish a website.
However, I plan to not leave you completely let-down at any time. I will make the journal entries my priority, and if I cannot make the Wednesday deadline for a new piece, I will post an older piece. Please be patient; it will take me some time to build up a strong momentum. However, I am dedicated to this task. I will provide content on a regular basis, like I used to with DeadJournal (but without all of the recent disappearances.
There is one final thing I would like to address here. In order to maintain a readership and a diversity of writing, I am willing to host others’ writings. You must, however, be willing and able to provide content regularly. Because of the cost of hosting without ads, I may have to charge a small fee. Right now, I’m paying about $24 for a year of service, so I’m talking about a small fee (fifty cents a month sound right?). I will adjust it according to how many people sign up, and the website’s needs (I may look into another, more expensive, hosting option if it is more practical). I will also be willing to design and maintain pages for anyone who doesn’t feel they would like to that themselves (for free, of course). If you prefer to do it on your own, but don’t know how, I am more than willing to teach anyone how to make a website, for this site or for another one.
Thanks for the encouragement Joel and Katie. This means something incredible to me, and it is wonderful to know that I have support along the way. previous week – top – blog home – discuss – next week |
