Who can join?

Any artist who works in a medium that can be fairly presented on the web is welcome to have a site hosted here.  This includes, but is not limited to, writing, drawing, painting, computer graphics, music, and photography.

What requirements exist for sites hosted here?

Artists must be willing to provide regular content (update at least twice a week).  They must also link to all Burble Net artists and the forums from all pages.  Outside of this, the structure and content of the sites is entirely up to the artists being hosted.  The one final requirement is that each artist must provide one piece of artwork per month that will be given exclusively to users who have donated to the site.  I don’t want to act as an editor; you will control the format and schedule for your site and anything you post will not be subject to approval by me.

What are the benefits of having a site hosted here?

In addition to your own free space to host your artwork online, Burble Net submerges you in a community of artists and art consumers.  You gain viewers from having your site linked from every page in the Burble Net community, a forum specifically devoted to the discussion of your artwork, and an instantaneous link other artists with whom you can interact and collaborate.

How much space/bandwidth do you offer?

You will be allowed unlimited space.  I will keep purchasing more to accommodate the needs of the site.  Currently, I am allotted half a gigabyte per month of bandwidth by my host.  I am looking into setting up my own server.  Once that happens, the bandwidth limit will be whatever my two-way cable connection can handle.

What does it cost to be hosted here?

As of now, I am only paying two dollars a month, billed yearly, for ad-free hosting.  For as long as this hosting option is reasonable for the site in terms of storage space and bandwidth, hosting a site here will be free.  I am looking into future options such as buying my own server and domain to keep costs down when the site expands.  Even if I have to charge to keep up, it would only be around fifty cents to a dollar per month for unlimited storage space.

What sort of technical knowledge does hosting a site here require?

None.  I am willing to create and maintain websites for artists here or teach them how to make their own using simple and readily available tools.
